1 /2 lb shelled off peanut,fried or toast without oil
300 gm cleaned anchovies + 2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp tamarind powder
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt *optional*
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds for garnishing
Method:
1:Mix oil with anchovies in a large plate,microwave at high for 1 minute,then stir anchovies again ,microwave for another I minute or until fragrant or lightly brown,set aside.
2:Fry shelled off peanut until fragrant and lightly brown,set aside.
3:Heat skillet or pan at medium low heat with 4 tbsp sambal-tumis-sauteed-chili-paste, then combine ,seasoning,toasted peanut and fried anchovies.Mix well,not let's it burnt then dish out.
4:Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve as snack or with rice or porridge.

What a coincidence! I made some chili anchovies too but mine was just with sugar and chilli. Yours sounds wonderful with the chili paste!
Wah, salivating liao. I loved this snack! I didn't know there is such thing as tamarind powder until my friend's brother said so at her memorial day BBQ party. Now I need to look for it, sounds so much easier.

I'm sure your taste good too..Mine is only extra belacan in the chili sauce! if I don't have sambal paste I also cook with sugar and chili sauce!

you must look for Tamarind powder! it's never too late..it's really easy ,no mess like adding salt into your dish..I start using tamarind powder 10 years ago when I lived in NYC..Every Asian store do carry this item..
Yummy, one of our fav snacks and I love to pile this on top of my nasi lemak. Delicious.
