Ingredients:
1 whole chicken,about 4-5 lbs
1 packet Emperor herbs spices mix
1 tbsp sea salt
1/4 cup gojiberries/wolfberries,washed
1:Prepare steamer or wok with water at high heat.
2:Wash and clean whole chicken,then rub the whole chicken with Emperor herbs spices mix and sea salt thoroughly inside out and massage the chicken at the same time.Sprinkle wash gojiberries all over the chicken.
3:Wrap with the rubbed chicken with plastic wrap,follow by aluminum foil provided in the packages mix.
4:Placed wrapped chicken in the steamer when the water is rolling boil.Reduce heat to medium high and steam chicken for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until the chicken cook.
5:Remove from steamer and serve warm immediately.

ReplyDeleteNow you remind me that I still have a few packet of emperor chicken herbs in my fridge but still didn't use it yet. I too like the steaming method as the chicken is more moist and tender :)

wow!! i'm suprised!! i thought you must cook this dish many time already!! I remember 5 years ago when my mom brought the spices from Malaysia,she told me about Emperor chicken and I have no idea what she talking and thought it's difficult to cook.well after my first attempt...I think this dish is the most easy and simple to cook!!..it's worth to rty,especially you have family to share with:)

Gert,you're right!! steaming this chicken is better than baked.the meat is more moist and tender.furthermore we can drink the soup,right?
I just bought a pack of emperor chicken herbs too but yet to try it. Your delicious version makes me want to try out soon :)
