Shredded Meat Floss Maki 肉松(Sushi Roll)

Have you ever try shredded pork or shredded meat floss (肉松) in maki or kimbap? I know it's sound crazy or weird. I do like shredded meat with Chinese bun but never try it with sushi roll.So this is my 1st time experimenting such a daring and unique savoury meat with vinegared taste maki..I think basically we can put anything we like in the sushi roll as long as it's acceptable or eatable, right? The result of my experiment is really earth shattering!! ahaha!! The maki filling comes out taste slightly tangy sweet and one words! delicious!!! maybe next time I should add in some spicy sauce with the shredded meat! To add extra kick into the filling and rice!

For making su-meshi/ vinegared rice
1 cup calrose rice/sushi rice
2 tbsp mixed sushi vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup water

For 2 Big Rolls or 3 medium roll-
2-3 sheets seaweed paper/nori (premium quality)
1 cucumber,peeled ,shredded and drained
1 bottle Japanese mayonnaise
some roasted sesame seed
1 cup ready to eat shredded pork or meat..

1:Cook calrose rice in rice cooker. When it's cooked but still warm add in vinegerad and sugar into the cooked rice, mix well..Prepare cucumber and other ingredients on the table.
2:Bring out a nori sheet one at a time.Place nori sheet stretching from you.Make sure you place the nori dull side facing upwards on a clean table or clean cutting board.
3:Spread the vinegared rice out evenly over the nori sheet .Using one hand to prevent rice spilling over the end of nori sheet, gently press down the rice with fingertips of your other hand.
4:Leave about 2 inch free on the far side, and 3/8 inch free on the side nearest to you.
5:Sprinkle some toasted sesame seed on the rice, add in cucumber on the top.Use chop stick to spread out shredded pork ,and squeezes some Japanese mayonnaise across the shredder pork (shown in the pix) with nori sheet facing you in oblong shape.(Add in some mayo or rice at the edges to hold all ingredients together in case it's fall apart)
6:Firmly roll up from the end nearest you, taking care not to squeeze out the contents
7:Firmly hold the bamboo mat to roll up again.
8:Use sharp knife to cut into 6 or 8 pieces and arrange the roll on the plate. Serve with soy and wasabi.

You may call it crazy, I call genius! If you wont mind I'd love to guide Foodista readers to your post. Just add the foodista widget to the end of this post so it will appear in the Foodista pages and it's all set, Thanks!

This would be perfect for a party. A great way to use up leftover pork as well. I will have to give this a try when we are all settled in at our new house.
